What if you could get paid to be a "Crazy Cat Lady" (or man)?

In a world where many of us feel overworked and underpaid, dissatisfied with our 'dead-end' jobs and undervalued with the rise of 'zero hour' contracts, wouldn't it be nice to actually WANT to go to work? To bounce out of bed in the morning and gleefully chow down your cereal in record time because you just can't wait to get there? Sound like an impossible dream? Well, apparently not. In fact, in Dublin, Ireland, it's a very real prospect for one lucky cat-lover.

The Veterinary Clinic, Just Cats, has placed a unique ad. This position would place the new recruit in charge of caring for the felines, by snuggling them and showing affection. Aside from being required to be a “Crazy Cat person that loves cats”, the position describes the ideal candidate as having “gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of time” and “to be softly spoken and capable of cat whispering to calm the nerves of some of our in-patients”.

Sound like your dream job? Well, there are a few pre-requisites before you can take on this esteemed role; you must of course have the right “Cattitude” and “an ability to understand different types of purring is a distinct added advantage”. There is also the requirement to hold a qualification that is recognized by the Veterinary Council of Ireland. Whilst this may put a lot of people out of the running, it hasn’t stopped hundreds of applicants from around the globe showing an interest in what could actually be THE best job in the world.

The clinic in Dublin is the only cat-only surgery in the city. They even state that they are “an equal opportunities employer, however we do discriminate against dogs attending our veterinary clinic as patients”.

Could this be the job for you?
